 Utagawa Kuniyoshi       Utagawa Kuniyoshi was a Japanese artist that was known for his work in uikyo-e. This genre of art flourished during the 19th century that was a depiction of everyday life in Japan. This was an engraving type of artwork that was prevalent in Japan. Utagawa Kuniyoshi was actually one of the last great masters of the uikyo-e artwork style. He was a member of the Utagawa School. This style of uikyo-e is similar to what many would call this style warrior print in the Americanized way of art. He was born in Tokyo and began training under Toyokuni who he became one of the first chief pupils. The artwork that Kuniyoshi began with was warrior paintings but eventually went into things such as birds and flowers after the success of his warrior artwork flourished. The Exceptional Work of Post Modern Artists and How They Changed The Landscape of Art Artist 1  : The new way of :  Architecture .    The postmodern movement was one that was filled with controversy. The postmodern style had a common factor of a nontraditional approach. Frank Gehry is known for his bold and unconventional forms and architecture. He was one of the only true postmodern architects. In Bilbao, Spain between 1991 and 1997, Gehry made a true name for himself. This gave him international recognition. From this creation, there was a phenomenon created called "The Bilbao Effect." They believed with creations of "rebirth" such as Gehry and this new era of seemingly "out there" works, it was believed that there was a new era for art. This piece provided a sense of economic and social impact on the Guggenheim Museum and seemed to provide people with a new look on architecture. Early Modern Era: "The Age of Anxiety" Essay       The Early 20th Century: "The Age of Anxiety" was a time in the early 20th century after World War 1. There was a widespread feeling of uneasiness that spread across America. There was a rapid sense of uncertainty that was characterized by social, political, and economic changes. All of these changes happening at once sparked fear and anxiety throughout the nation. There was a worry created for individuals about the state of the nation and what the future held. There was the devastation of World War 1 that took a toll on individuals and there was a sense of worry of what could possibly be next with so many new ideas on the rise. Art had an impact during this time as well.   The Romantic Era is highlighted with energy and passion showcased throughout the work. This is very recognizable in the following works that have been chosen.  First Artist: John Constable  John was a highly renowned Romantic Era painter. He was actually one of the first artists to create landscape drawings and paintings. He was also one of the first artists to be involved in romantic paintings and movement.  Artwork: " The Hay Wain"       The " Hay Wain " is one of the most famous Romantic Era paintings. John Constable has a beautiful depiction of the countryside. His use of color is beautiful as well as his incorporation of naturalism. His depiction of nature seems to be celebratory and one that shows off the beauty of nature through the painting. There is a celebration of the rural life that is depicted by this scenery.   Classical Blog  Revolution and Art-1700s Hannah Brooks First Artist  John Singleton Copley: John Singleton Copley was a renowned artist in the 1700s. The paintings he created were very prevalent during many of the revolutions that occurred during the 1700s. His work was very important in the ties between art and revolutions. He was born in Boston in 1738. While growing up in Boston, he trained in the visual arts under the guidance of his father.  The work that I chose by John Singleton Copley was his painting of "Watson and the Shark."
